Bought Fastgraph 4.0 some time ago, I ve recieved FG bulletins now and again. The latest was of the release of the new Windows version of Fastgraph. My two programmer friends are sold on DirectX and Direct3D (mainly because of the easy OOP design and whatnot). Going along with their opinions, I tossed out the information on the new FG release. CBM 1581 floppy disk copy utility for DOS. Imports and exports 1581 disks to a PC based 3.5" floppy drive and disk controller.
Floppy 6522 VIA chip to my C64 user port. And I needed a simple solution to quickly test out different C64 Kernal replacements. The second was no problem, because I also ordered some Flash-ROM.adaptor PCBs 9 and could easily build a Flash-ROM to C64 Kernal adaptor. Inserting a parallel cable into my 1541 drive was a little bit problematic, because the 6502-RAMROM board overlays the 6522 VIA chip location. Various Commodore projects including a way to use a PC as a virtual disk drive for your C64 or C128.
Visible to the basic interpreter, you must start by adding ram in block 1, then 2 and then 3. RAM in block 5 is never detected by the basic. 8K cartridges use block 5, and 16K cartridges use block 5 together with another one, usually 3. To be as compatible as possible with existing cartridges and to expand basic memory I ll use block 1 and 2 for this expansion, but you could use any two of the available blocks you want. I ve added instructions for making the blocks selectable by switches below.
